Amethi: As Rahul Gandhi arrived on a two-day visit to his Amethi parliamentary constituency, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas on Wednesday took potshots at the Congress vice-president, saying he was in Amethi on a "political picnic" and not to share the "pain" of the people.
"Rahul is not coming to feel the pain of the people, but he is here on a political picnic. The people of Amethi are feeling cheated," Vishwas told reporters in Amethi, hours before the Gandhi scion landed at Fursatganj airport.
Vishwas, who is likely to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Amethi, said "the common man needs a reply from Rahul. He should tell us when and where we can meet him."
"We want to talk to him. He must tell us what works are being done in villages." Vishwas said the common people wanted to know Gandhi's opinion on bigger issues like price spiral and corruption.
On his remarks on nurses from Kerala during a stage show a few years ago, Vishwas said his "intentions are not wrong" and he did not want to hurt anyone.
He said actor-turned-politicians Raj Babbar and Shatrughan Singh too had recited several couplets in movies which were not right socially, but they had never apologised to anyone.
