KOCHI: At a time when the commuters are depending on the Pullepady overbridge than ever before, the U-turn, elevation of road and speed breaker at the entrance of the RoB are creating major problems for two-wheelers. After a traffic regulation was introduced in connection with demolition of North rail overbridge, two-wheeler riders going towards MG Road have to take a diversion at Lissy Hospital junction and travel through the potholed service road to take a U-turn at the toll booth entrance to enter the bridge. There have been incidents of bikers falling down during their attempt to drive at the turn. People can be often seen pushing their vehicles at the turn as they are unable to take a proper U-turn there. The traffic from the other two roads are also add to this problem. “It is very hard to take a U-turn at the entrance as the approach road is elevated from the service road. The traffic from the other roads and the stop of the vehicles at the toll booth is another reason,” said Peter Sajan a commuter. “There is no sufficient space to take a proper U-turn here. The service road is also in a pathetic condition,” he added. The aged riders and women too are finding it difficult to enter the bridge. “Even experienced riders are not able to take a proper U-turn here .We need to stop and then enter the bridge due to the elevation of the approach road,” said U P Joy, another commuter.“Sometimes small accidents occur here due to the elevation of the road. The youngsters manage to turn and go but it is the aged and women bearing the brunt. Even three-wheelers find it difficult at times,” said a resident near the bridge.
