Pulavar Puthumaipithan conferred Kaviko Award
CHENNAI: Pulavar Puthumaipithan was conferred with the Abdul Rahmans Kaviko Award at Devaneya Pavanar Arangam here on Saturday.

CHENNAI: Pulavar Puthumaipithan was conferred with the Abdul Rahman’s Kaviko Award at Devaneya Pavanar Arangam here on Saturday.The occasion also marked the launch of Puthumaipithan’s book titled Devakanam, which  was released by Nalli Kuppusamy Chetti and received by Gnana Sundaram, who has also reviewed the book. Avvai Natarajan, former Vice Chancellor of Tamil University, Thanjavur, conferred the Kaviko Award on Puthumaipithan and handed over a memento and cash prize of `30,000.On reviewing the book, Gnana Sundaram said, “After reading this book no Hindu will attack a mosque and Muslims will not strike down any more twin towers in the world. The lyrics written in the book replicate, and make the readers remember, the sayings of Ramakrishna. Referring to Puthumaipithan’s mention in the book that ‘Love is God’, Abdul Rahman said whoever shows love to others is called a theist and the one who doesn’t show love to others is an atheist. “Raja Gopalan, professor and speaker, said, “This award gets pride after Pulavar Puthumaipithan received it. And Pulavar Puthumaipithan is worthy of receiving this award since he possesses a good command over the style and beauty of the language.”Kaviko Abdul Rahman said, “This award is given to the person who not only possesses writing skills but lives for the language.”Avvai Natarajan presided over the function and other scholars and writers were present on the occasion.
