BANGALORE: When requests to regularise water supply in the Benson Town and adjoining areas off Millers Road did not work, residents decided to force an answer from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) officials here on Thursday.A group of residents led by Jayamahal Councillor M K Gunashekar met BWSSB Executive Engineer Gopal Gowda and informed him about the problems and wanted to know when the board is planning to wake up to their problems.Gunashekar said, “The executive engineer has asked us to give him four more days to resolve the issue. Earlier too, he had sought extensions like this. Hence, I told him that if the issue is not resolved within the stipulated time, residents will stage a protest in BWSSB office premises and meet the chairman to take immediate action.” Leaky pipes and less pressure have led to the scarcity of piped water in the area. When the pipe replacement work was carried out by BWSSB on Millers Road, residents believed that their problems would be finally solved. However, the water problems only intensified. The residents claimed they decided to confront the executive engineer after failing to meet the engineer for the past six days.
