BANGALORE: Accusing Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and his family members of evading income tax to the tune of over Rs 330 crore, the Opposition leader in the Assembly Siddaramaiah has urged the Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to constitute an inquiry into it.
Siddaramaiah, on Tuesday, said that besides writing a letter, he would personally call Mukherjee in Delhi to urge him to take note of the issue.Giving details of the transactions of 11 firms allegedly acquired by Yeddyurappa's family since 2006, Siddaramaiah said the CM's family had purchased property worth Rs 176 crore.

The present market value of these properties was more than Rs 642 crore, he claimed. "Where did Yeddyurappa's family get such a huge amount from? People of the state have the right to know this. Therefore, an enquiry is necessary", Siddaramaiah said claiming that he got the details of these transactions from a private complaint filed with the income tax department.
