KOCHI: The Vigilance department on Tuesday informed the Kerala High Court that the investigation on V A Arun Kumar, son of Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan, is progressing well. The Vigilance further submitted that it has collected mobile numbers suspected to be used by Santhosh Madhavan alias Swami Amritha Chaithanya, Adv Deepthi Prasenan and Arun Kumar.Vigilance Superintendent P Radhakrishnan filed the report on a petition filed by Adv V K Raju seeking a detailed inquiry into the complaint filed by Santhosh Madhavan against Arun .Santhosh Madhavan had alleged that he paid Rs 70 lakh to Arun kumar for securing necessary orders to fill around 200 acres of paddy field at Vadayar in Kottayam.The department said that as the incident happened in 2006, it would require another six months to complete the investigation. Statement has been collected from 23 people and eight set of documents seized in this regard.On October 12, a Vigilance team questioned Madhavan at the T’Puram Central Jail.Madhavan stated that he had withdrawn the amount from his Federal Bank account at MG Road, Kochi and his driver Thomas, Manager Sankara Menon and real estate brokers Suresh Pai and Ajeesh were witnesses to the transaction. Account statement from the bank was also seized by the Vigilance.“Some witnesses have yet to be tracked down and questioned. More documents have to be collected from the office of IHRD where Arun Kumar is working. A request in this regard has been sent,” a Vigilance official said.Madhavan landed in trouble when a court here sentenced him to 16 years in jail after he was found guilty of rape and sexual exploitation minor girls.
