Prisoner found dead

PALAKKAD: A remand prisoner of the sub-jail here was found dead on Wednesday. The deceased is Lakshmanan, 29, son of Chellan of Pallur Padavayal, in Attappadi. Lakshmanan was charged with murder and his case number was 74/11 at the Agali police station. He has been a remand prisoner at the Palakkad sub-jail since April 10, 2011. No one had come forward to release him on bail. At 6 am on Wednesday, when the jail warden tried to wake him up he was found to be unconscious. He was immediately taken to the District Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
