The first part of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' wowed the audiences despite a high dose of gore and violence.

New Delhi: The first part of Anurag Kashyap's 'Gangs of Wasseypur' was criticized as well as praised for its different take on the portrayal of violence on screen. The director preferred to keep things simple and thus the violence looked less glossy and more terrifying.

The film basically relied on the acting department, however, the director's efforts of making the story closer to reality couldn't be ignored. The use of special properties to showcase the time gap between two events made the film worth watching.

Sneha Khanwalkar's music complimented the basic premise of the story and hit the right cord with the audiences. She is definitely among one of the auteurs of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' saga.

Crime thriller 'Gangs of Wasseypur' (GOW), based on real life story, wowed the audiences despite a high dose of gore and violence. Now part part two of the movie is releasing on August 8 and it is said to be taking violence and bloodshed to a new level.

The first part opened June 22 amid critical and commercial acclaim.

Centered around power, politics and rivalry among three families, the film explores revenge through the socio-political dynamic in Wasseypur, Jharkhand, also known for coal and scrap trade mafia.

While GOW-1 spans the 1940s to the 1990s, GOW-2 will be the culminating factor that will take the story forward from the 1990s till 2009.

'Gangs of Wasseypur 2' is said to be a fitting conclusion to the vengeance story.

Written by Zeishan Quadri, who hails from Wasseypur, the film is co-produced by Anurag Kashyap and Sunil Bohra. Powerful performers like Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Richa Chadda and Huma Qureshi form the cast of the movie.

More than 90 percent of the film has been shot in Uttar Pradesh to bring the right mood and feel to the story.

Both the parts were screened at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival and the just-concluded Osian film fest in the capital.

The critical and commercial acclaim received by the first part will put the makers under pressure to repeat the same magic. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a fine actor but he doesn't have a face value like Manoj Bajpayee yet. Despite the fact that he has emerged as one of the better actors of Bollywood in 2012, Nawazudding would have to put everything into his role to make it believable.

If media reports are to be believed then 'Wasseypur 2' has better production values then 'Wasseypur 1'. Such reports have prompted the spectators to look for a better film.

Moreover, the 'Jism 2' fever has still not died down and it's just been five days to it, so the audience may get divided. 'Ek Tha Tiger' is releasing on August 15 and that film is expected to open in a grand fashion, therefore 'Gangs of Wasseypur 2' has not more than 6 days to prove its point on the ticket window.(With inputs from IANS)
