CHENNAI: In his first interview to a media house outside Sri Lanka, Selvarasa Pathmanathan, popularly known as KP, who is now the head of the decimated LTTE, candidly admitted that slain LTTE supremo V Prabhakaran had been influenced by the Dravidian ideology propounded by the DMK. When the Dravidian ideology failed in Tamil Nadu, the chief proponents, Annadurai and later Karunanidhi, passed on these ideas to Prabhakaran. “They told him that his fight was based on the ideology of Dravida Kazhagam, to make struggle against the Brahmins. That made him change his course and that’s why he made all those blunders, like that against Rajiv Gandhi,” KP said in an interview to CNN IBN-First Post. When asked if the DMK had ideologically influenced Prabhakaran to take the step to assassinate Rajiv Gandhi, he hinted that it could have been a reason. His reply was: “This one I cannot say yes. But you know they (Tamil Nadu politicians) fed him with some kind of influence against the Brahmins. This may be one of the reasons”.And added that was the reason why he hated the Prime Minister of India. On the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, KP was apologetic. He maintained that it was a mistake that had led to sufferings for his people in Sri Lanka and begged for forgiveness.
