BANGALORE: The poster menace, which had raked up a storm last year, returned to haunt the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike council again.Ruling party leader B R Nanjundappa requested the Mayor to take action against those, who put film and other posters on the walls, metro pillars, flyovers and other places, illegally.Yeshwantpur councilor Munirathna, who is also the president of the Kannada Film Producers Association, said that 125 Kannada films are released every year, of which only 10 will be hits.In order to give publicity, they (producers) are choosing these places.“Give us 10 hoardings in a ward and we are ready to pay the tax,” he said.In a reply, Commissioner Siddaiah said that the BBMP had identified 75 locations, where film posters could be pasted and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce had bought 10 such places on auction.“The chamber is seeking a rebate,” he said.Posters are being put in the name of birthdays, festivals, deaths and wishes across the city.“This is because of you people. In some instances, when our officials went to clear such posters, they were threatened,” he added.
