New Delhi: The Premier Hockey League (PHL) began on a winning note for Chennai Veerans who defeated Hyderabad Sultans by an emphatic margin of 4-1 on Thursday in Chennai.
The matches in PHL are played over 70 minutes divided into four quarters with each being of 15-minute duration.
Veerans skipper Adam Sinclair was the star sounding the board twice in two minutes.
Though the Hyderabad team got several chances and as many as nine penalty corners but they failed to find the target more than once.
For Veerans goalkeeper Sreejesh and full back Ragunath saved the day as they thwarted the Sultan attackers many times.
Chennai Veerans scored the first goal of the match in the 16th minute by Vikram Kanth who fired in a reverse shot into the Sultan's net.
The third quarter was the most productive for Veerans who scored thrice to lead 4-0.
Vikram Pillai scored the lone goal for Sultans in the 68th minute off a penalty corner.
