KOCHI: The second phase work of the Vyttila Mobility Hub will begin next week. The second phase which will be completed at an estimated cost of `376 crore includes the construction of parking facilities and a shopping complex. With the Kerala Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation (KITCO) completing the preparation of the tender, the Vyttila Mobility Hub Society is planning to start the pre-qualification assessment by next week.“Interested companies will be invited to submit an application under the National Pre-qualification System by next week. The pre-qualification assessment will ensure that only skilled and experienced companies can submit tenders for the work,” said Vyttila Mobility Hub managing director M Beena. She said that once the pre-qualification assessment is completed, the tender for the construction work will be floated. “We hope that the work can be awarded by February 2012,” Beena added. To get pre-qualified, the agencies will have to submit the details and demonstrate that they have the experience, technical capacity, adequate resources and management systems necessary to execute the work competently.Beena said that the second phase of work mainly includes the construction of a two-level under-parking facility, another two-level bus parking facility and a shopping complex. “The under-parking facility will be for private vehicles and the other facility will be for buses,” she added. The mobility hub is more active nowadays and the Hub Society authorities believe that the construction of the shopping complex will help increase the possibility of more commercial establishments coming up around the Vyttila Mobility Hub, which will generate more jobs. The society has already raised nearly Rs. 270 crore from various banks as loans. The banks, including Union Bank, Federal Bank and Canara Bank, along with Dena Bank, are the major players who will provide financial assistance to the second phase. The state government will provide the remaining amount.
