Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian mixed shooting duo — Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh — for winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday. He praised their dedication and consistency noting that this marks Bhaker’s second consecutive medal at the sporting event.
Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh secured the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. “Our shooters continue to make us proud! Congratulations to @realmanubhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning the Bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the #Olympics. Both of them have shown great skills and teamwork. India is incredibly delighted. For Manu, this is her second consecutive Olympic medal, showcasing her consistent excellence and dedication,” he said in a post on X.
President Droupadi Murmu joined in to congratulate the shooters, saying Bhaker has created history by becoming India’s first woman shooter to win two medals at the same Olympics. In fact, she is the first Indian post independence to bag two medals in a single edition of the Games.
“Congratulations to Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh for winning bronze medal for India in the mixed team 10 metre air pistol event for shooting! Manu Bhaker has created history, becoming the first woman shooter from India to win two medals in the same Olympic games. She has done us immensely proud. I wish her and Sarabjot Singh many more laurels in the future,” she wrote in a post on X.

Bhaker was composure personified while Singh played an ideal foil as the pair won the 10m air pistol mixed team bronze defeating South Korea to script history. The pair defeated the Koreans 16-10 to earn the country its second medal at the quadrennial showpiece.
Congratulations also poured in from defence minister Rajnath Singh, who said Bhaker’s “incredible talent, hard work and dedication” have made India proud. He, too, reiterated that she is the first Indian to win two medals in the same edition of the Olympics.
