Bengaluru: Around 7,000 employees of a tech giant had to be evacuated from the premises of Bengaluru’s Embassy Tech Village on Friday after an alleged bomb scare.

CICSO, a multinational software firm headquartered in Bengaluru, received a phone call on Wednesday afternoon. Speaking in Hindi, the unidentified caller allegedly warned the receiver that a bomb had been planted within CISCO office premises and that it was set to go off within ten minutes, The Hindu reported.

Following the call, CISCO staff contacted the police. The building with around 7,000 employees was evacuated immediately as per standard safety protocol.

The call was declared a hoax after police failed to find a bomb inside the Village, despite combing through the premises for over two hours.

Bengaluru police will reportedly seek the help of the Cyber Cell department to probe the matter further.

Designed as part of a Special Economic Zone in the city, the Embassy Tech Park was earlier called the Vrindawan Tech Park, is located on Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road, close to the Cessna Business Park in Marathalli. It was renamed after it was taken over by the Embassy group. The area is a designated IT hub.
