Islamabad: Pakistan will hold a presidential election on September 6 to vote in a replacement for Pervez Musharraf, who resigned this week, the Election Commission said on Friday.
Under Pakistan's constitution a new president is elected by members of the country's four provincial assemblies and the national parliament within 30 days of the post becoming vacant.
Sources say that the executive committee of the PPP proposed Zardari to be the next Pakistan President.
Zardari has reportedly agreed to the committee's proposal. However, it seems that Zardari has trouble on another front.
Meanwhile, sources inform CNN-IBN that Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League is likely to pull out its ministers from the ruling coalition.
