Pakistan registers protest over bail to Samjhauta Express blast accused Swami Aseemanand
Aseemanand was released on a special leave permission earlier this week.

New Delhi: After the National Investigation Agency(NIA) decided not to contest bail granted to Samjhauta Express blast accused Swami Aseemanand, Pakistan's DG for SAARC summoned the Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad on Friday and lodged formal protest.

The government of Pakistan has said that they have serious reservations on the efficiency of the court proceedings in the case.

Aseemanand was released on a special leave permission earlier this week.

Blasts in two coaches of the Samjhauta Express on February 18, 2007, had claimed the lives of 68 people including 42 Pakistanis.
