Vadodara: A Sindhi couple hailing from Pakistan was arrested on charges of buying a flat here on the basis of fake documents.

Dilip Kumar Sunderlal Panjwani (32) and his wife Sapna (aged around 30), residents of Khairpur in Pakistan's Sindh province, bought the property in Varasiya locality through forged documents, Police Inspector H G Vora said.

"The couple has been staying in the city since December 26, 2006 on a long-term visa. However, the long-term visa granted to the couple does not allow them to purchase a property in India," he said on phone.

They managed to acquire fake election card, PAN card, driving licence, Aadhaar card and school-leaving certificates to prove their Indian citizenship and buy the flat, Vora said.

The Panjwanis have been booked under IPC Sections related to criminal conspiracy and forgery, among others, he added.
