HYDERABAD: Born and brought up in Jamshedpur, Bandana Mushunuri who moved to Hyderabad after her marriage, traces the lines of the horizon and the contours of nature in her artistic expression. Most of her paintings are oil on canvas depicting landscapes. When asked about it, she says, “I love nature and that inspires me to paint. My favourite colours of white, orange and blue are what I use to fill in the spaces.”One of her paintings titled ‘Le Couleur Blue’ (the colour blue) is an oil on canvas that describes a landscape in shades on deep blue. What makes the painting interesting is its ability to look like its during both the day and night time. With detailed cloud cover and a few rays of light struggling to break free, depending on the viewer’s mood the painting could either be during the day or night.‘Placidity’ on the other hand is a serene view of the sunset along a water body, done beautifully in hues of orange. The depth with which she delivers the painting, makes it all that more enchanting.Similarly, ‘Point of integrity’ has realistically painted mountains that Bandana remembers from her childhood picnics in Jharkhand. She has also done a few portraits in other mediums, like ‘The Lineage’, an oil on oil paper portrait of a group of African women. Bandana says that she wants to reach out to the middle class people who want to buy paintings but don't because they cost too much. Her works are priced in the range of `800 to about `18,000. When asked about her first art exhibition she shares, “I had to go to many art galleries to showcase my paintings. Most of them wouldn’t agree to it because I don’t have a degree in Fine Arts.” Bandana’s paintings are on display at the Chitramayee State Art Gallery of Fine arts till December 11.
