Beijing: The Indian pair of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi have raised the hopes of one more medal for India at the Beijing Olympics.
Paes and Bhupathi entered the men's doubles quarter-final on Wednesday defeating the Brazilian pair of Andre Sa and Marcelo Melo in the second round.
The seventh seeded Indian pair won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in one hour nine minutes.
In the quarter-finals they will meet the winner of the match between the Swiss pair and fourth seed Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka and the Russian duo Dmitry Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny.
In their first round match against French pair of Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon., Paes and Bhupathi won 6-3, 6-3.
Melo and Sa had a tough first round against the Czech pair of Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek.
They finally won the match 5-7, 6-2, 8-6.
