TIRUPUR: A man was arrested here on Tuesday for allegedly duping a software engineer of nearly `15 lakh by posing as a woman during online chats.Police said that 10 years back, B V Ramamoorthy (39), who resides in Chandaramma Layout, Bangalore, used to regularly chat online. During one such sessions, he met another user who went by the name Indumathi.They corresponded over the internet for several days and even exchanged photographs of each other. At one point, Indumathi, who had introduced herself as an orphan, said that she wanted get married to Ramamoorthy. Between 2005 and 2008, they had put a stop to their relationship. And in 2008, they resumed from where they had left. When Indumathi requested some money from him, the unsuspecting Ramam-oorthy started depositing money in her bank account.However, Ramamoorthy started becoming suspicious as Indumathi had never wanted to speak to him over the phone nor did she agree to meet in person.With the help of a few experts in Bangalore, Rama-moorthy traced her email and bank account. It was only then that he realised that she was a man.The moment he realised that he had been conned, Ra-mamoorthy approached district Superintendent of Police V Balakrishnan and submitted a petition seeking action against ‘Indumathi’. Ramamoorthy claimed that over the years, he had been conned of `15 lakh.Based on the information he had given the police, the Tirupur Rural police arrested Nagarajan (32), a resident of Mudhalipalayam near Tirupur, on Tuesday. Subsequent inquiries revealed that Nagarajan, a post graduate, was working as a salesman at a readymade cloth outlet in Tirupur.Police said that both men were already married and were living with their families.
