PUDUCHERRY: Dr S B Deepak Kumar, Special Secretary-cum-District Collector on Friday said that the online registration of grievances would be implemented soon in the Union Territory for the benefit of the public.He said this while answering the queries at an open house discussion of the Department of Revenue and Disaster Management with the general public, stake holders and NGOs, held as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week, 2011.He said that the Information Technology Department was working on the modalities for implementing the online project.A number would be allotted once the grievance is registered online and the person could use it for future references, he said and added that the department concerned would monitor the status of the complaint also. On the time limit for dealing with a complaint, he said the issue could be addressed in the citizens’ charter.Pawn brokers under scannerWhen the attention was drawn to the hefty interest rates charged by the Pawn shop owners, sub-collector A Muthamma said that 24 pawn shops were issued show cause notices for charging excess interest.Deepak Kumar said that there was no provision in the Pondicherry Pawn Brokers’ Act to cancel the licenses of the pawn shop owners, who were extracting more interest. He added that the licenses of those shops, which overcharged, would not be renewed.The collector, while replying to a query on the registration of documents, said a standard format would be generated for registration so that it could be done without the help of a document writer.
