THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Government has decided to give one acre of land each to 733 tribal families in Aralam Farm. This will be completed within 100 days, said P K Jayalakshmi, Minister for ST Welfare. While talking to reporters here on Tuesday to list out her department’s 100-day to-do list, the Minister said that the government had also decided to provide land to unwed mothers from the tribal community. Cases of more unwed mothers have been reported from the places such as Tirunelli, Kasargod and Attappadi. The government is contemplating a package for the rehabilitation of these unwed mothers and also to provide employment opportunities, she said.A Mahila Shikshan Kendra and a short-stay home are also being planned for these unwed mothers, the Minister said. It has also been decided to provide cycles to all the students belonging to the scheduled tribes and studying in eighth standard. Coin box phone facility will be provided in all hostels and free laptops will be given to those who secure admission from this community to engineering and medical courses in the government sector.Library facilities will be made available in all hostels which are functioning on own buildings. All adivasis will be provided ration cards. For providing placements from the tribal community a Job Fest will be conducted in Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.
