New DelhiPublic broadcaster Prasar Bharati hopes to rake in revenue to the tune of Rs 125 crore from telecasting India's ODI series against Sri Lanka and South Africa, rights for which was given to it by BCCI.
As per the agreement with BCCI, Prasar Bharati will pay Rs 7.5 crore per match.
The total outflow will be Rs 90 crore for two series, which includes twelve ODI matches.
"Going by initial estimates, we are looking at earnings of over Rs 35 crore," a Prasar Bharati official said.
As per industry sources, Prasar Bharati is charging Rs 2.5 lakh for a ten-second slot on DD Sports while the rates for DD1 are Rs two lakh per ten second.
Prasar Bharati is also looking to get around Rs 3-5 crore from airing the commentary on All-India Radio.
BCCI has given the rights for the two series to the public broadcaster as an interim measure while it faces legal hurdles in the way of awarding four-year rights.
The production for the two series would be done by Trans-World International, which would be paid-for by the cricket board separately.
The official said that the sponsors include Videocon, BSNL, Hero Honda, Coca Cola, Pidilite, Castrol and IOC.
The series will start from Tuesday.
