Novel procession against Aranmula airport project

The Thiruvaranmula Paithrukagrama Samrakshana Samithi here on Monday took out a novel procession carrying paddy spikes from Lord Parthasarathi temple to “Putharikandam” on the reclaimed paddy fields after performing poojas.  In a symbolic manner of recollecting the harvest season, the paddy spikes were distributed at a ceremony held at “Putharikandam” on the converted paddy fields meant for the proposed Aranmula airport project.

Inaugurating the meeting after the ceremony in connection with the paddy spikes distribution, Hindu Aikyavedi general secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan urged the people to take an oath for the protection of the tradition and culture of Aranmula.

Kummanam said that people should be ready for sacrifices for the protection of “Putharikandam,” the pivotal part of Aranmula Sree Parthasarathi temple for the “Nivedyam” to be made out of the paddy from the field like the “Poonkavanam” of Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa.

He called for the formation of an organisation for the conservation and protection of the “kaavu” and ponds of the great temples  .

Distributing the paddy spikes to the people, Aranmula temple thantri Kuzhikattillathu Agnisarman Vasudevan Bhattathiri declared that the converted paddy fields were connected with Aranmula temple as per ancient records.

Swami Vijayabhaskarananda of Kidangannur Vijayananda Ashramam presented “ponnada” to the farmers and farm labourers on the occasion.
