NAGERCOIL: A man called Mahesh allegedly killed senior government surgeon Dr Sethu Lakshmi (55) on Monday, apparently angered over the death of his wife Nithya, who was pregnant and undergoing treatment at the doctor’s private clinic in Thoothukudi.After examining Nithya, Dr Sethu Lakshmi had informed Mahesh that the fetus was found aborted in the womb and recommended that she must be operated upon immediately.With Mahesh’s consent, she operated upon Nithya. “Later the patient developed fits and Dr Sethu Lakshmi advised Mahesh to rush her to a bigger clinic, but Nithya died after an hour-long treatment at another clinic. Angered by this, Mahesh had confronted Dr Sethu Lakshmi, held her responsible for his wife’s death and threatened her the same day,” a police officer said.The doctor had reportedly lodged an oral complaint about the incident.
