KOCHI: The tanker lorry strike will not affect the LPG customers of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum (HP) for the time being. Though the IOC plant at Udayamperoor was closed down owing to lack of supply, the others are not affected as they have pipeline gas supply.“The transporters’ strike will not affect us now as we have pipeline gas supply. The BPCL will be able to provide its daily load of LPG to the customers,” said K Manoj, territory manager of BPCL.The BPCL has been offloading 60 loads a day to its distributors in seven districts, including Idukki, Wayanad, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam. However, due to the tanker lorry strike, the operations of BPCL plant in Thiruvananthapuram are under threat. However, there is enough supply to last for a couple of days and hence the functioning will continue for a few more days, the officials said.Similarly, the customers of HP too can heave a sigh of relief. The HP unit here offloads 35 loads to various districts, including Ernakulam, Kottayam, Iduk k i , Al appuzha , Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram on a daily basis. In addition, they are also taking care of LPG supply in two other districts - Thrissur and Palakkad.“So far we have not been affected by the transporters’strike.Since HP has pipeline gas supply, we will be able to cater to the customers,” said a top official with the HP.
