Senior officials reject media reports that the trip had been rescheduled because of threatening e-mail

Thiruvananthapuram/New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit to Kerala from November 1 and there will be no change in his itinerary because of an e-mail containing a threat to his life.

Senior government officials on Saturday rejected media reports that the trip had been rescheduled.

Cases filed

Police have registered cases of sedition and criminal conspiracy in connection with the e-mail that said Singh would be killed during his visit to Kerala from Novermber 1.

The e-mail—sent on October 26 to at least 20 top officials of the state—also contained a threat against President A P J Abdul Kalam. The owner of the cyber café in Kochi from where the e-mail was sent and three of his employees have been detained for questioning.

It contained references to Mohammed Afzal Guru, a death row convict in the Parliament attack case, and Abdul Nasser Madani, an accused in the 1998 Coimbatore blasts who is now lodged in a jail in Tamil Nadu.

Twelve people visited the cafe on October 26, police officials said.

Kollam visit cancelled

Singh's visit to Kollam has been cancelled following some snag in the helicopter in which he was to fly, authorities said Saturday.

Singh was to lay the foundation stone of a pilot plant at the titanium sponge plant at Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd at Kollam on November 1, the day the state celebrates 50 years of its formation.

He was to travel to Kollam, 70 km from here, in a helicopter. "There are some problems in his trip to Kollam on a helicopter, and hence it has been postponed. It will not take place on Nov 1," said Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan.
