New Delhi: 'Doli Armaano Ki' the popular serial that revolves around a woman who fights against an abusive husband and a bad marriage, has received a lot of appreciation from the audiences. In a press conference, that was recently organized, actress Neha Marda spoke to us about her personal life, career and her reaction to the series taking a five year leap.
Neha plays Urmi, who has recently won her child's custody and divorced her husband. She will be seen after five years as someone who is well settled in her life and happy living with her son. She owns and runs a café in Mumbai and looks independently after her son. Talking about the five year leap she said, "Leaps are natural progression for every show and I'm glad that our shows are taking a leap. My character is emerging to be as a much stronger woman after surviving a bad marriage, and a court battle for the custody of her child. I am also a little sad at the same time to see some of the actors leave the show."
The show deals with the issue of domestic violence and when we asked her if she had any advice for the women who suffer in reality, she said, "As soon as human conversations turn into an animal way of fighting I think it is time to draw a line. Women who suffer and still go on with the same man should know that divorce is not an end if it is getting one out of a bad marriage. Women suffering under an abusive husband are usually abandoned by their family members, which should not happen. Fathers or mothers should always be involved in their daughter's life," suggested the actress. "The last resort, when you can't see a way out, is of women reacting with same aggression and violence," she added.
On being asked about her on-screen husband actor Mohit Malik, she said that the two share a great chemistry off-screen. "Mohit could not be further away from his character 'Samrat'. He is a great guy and he's almost shy of women. He is a loving husband and you can see that whenever his wife is on the sets of the show."
Neha was asked about the role of Gehna in 'Balika Vadhu' and her similarities with Mohit Malik's character to which she said that they are different in a lot of ways. "Gehna was an uneducated little girl from a village, where as Urmi is an educated women from a town. Gehna, though she was sad at first found love with her middle-aged husband later in the marriage. Urmi even though she tries, she can't like her husband as he is rude and cruel. Urmi is now an independent woman living in Mumbai with her child," she said. Talking about the future of her character and of the series she said that Urmi's and Samrat's path will cross again and it will be interesting to see who will defeat whom.
