Narendra Modi lauds WHO's efforts to minimise tobacco consumption
Every year, on May 31, WHO and partners mark World No Tobacco Day, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.

New Delhi: On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reached out to people reminding them of the harms associated with tobacco consumption. The Prime Minister appreciated the World Health Organisation's focus on curbing illicit trade of tobacco products calling it a laudatory effort that would help in minimising tobacco consumption.

Modi also reaffirmed his commitment to reducing the menace of tobacco consumption. Modi tweeted, "World No Tobacco Day reminds us of the harms associated with tobacco consumption and a day to reaffirm our commitment to reduce this menace. The WHO's focus on stopping illicit trade of tobacco products is a laudatory effort that will help in minimising tobacco consumption."
