HYDERABAD: A man, convicted of killing his wife, has topped the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) Group I services examinations, the results of which were announced here on Sunday evening.Gedele Srinukumar scored 575.25 marks and became eligible for the post of deputy collector, the most coveted post in the state services. Srinukumar was convicted of poisoning and killing his wife over dowry by the district additional sessions judge of a fast track court in Eluru, West Godavari district.He had had a love marriage and even has two children The court sentenced Srinukumar to seven and three years concurrent rigorous imprisonment on November 11, 2011. But maintaining that he is innocent, he moved the state High Court, where the case is still pending.Kumar says that it his hope to be proven innocent that gave him the zeal to study hard and crack the examination. He said he worked at least 10 hours a day and prepared his own notes by going through NCERT academic books.A mechanical engineering graduate, Srinukumar always had the dream of being a civil servant. He even cleared the UPSC exam twice but did not get through in the interview level. He later cleared that APPSC Group I examination and was posted as a sub-registrar, a job he did until his conviction. APPSC posted a list of about 206 provisionally selected candidates Sunday.
