Armaan, who was visibly emotional, said: "I'd especially like to thank Uddhav Thackerayji, Anil Desaiji and all others involved for such a beautiful gesture."

Fondly called King of Gazals Jagjit Singh was famous for his deep melodious voice, soulful lyrics and for making the otherwise esoteric form of music accessible to listeners from all walks of life.

In a career spanning more than 5 decades, he lent his voice to a plethora of songs and ghazals. His albums ' The Unforgettable' and 'The Independent' are groundbreaking works in Indian music. He also composed music for many movies including Prem Geet, Arth and Saath - Saath.

For his contributions to music and art, Late Jagjit Singh has been conferred with many prestigious awards like Padma Bhushan Award, Rajasthan Ratna Award, Sahitya Academy Award awards and multiple films and television awards.

Jagjit Singh is undoubtedly one of the most successful Ghazal composers and musicians in history and this chowk further cements his legacy.
