Mumbai: Mumbai Police have got the custody of Danish Ali, a close aide of gangster Dawood Ibrahim's nephew Sohail Kaskar.
Ali was deported from USA on November 15, 2018 following which the crime branch of Mumbai Police took him into custody in December 2018. He was arrested by US agencies from Spain in 2014 along with Dawood Ibrahim's nephew Sohail Kaskar and two Pakistani nationals in a narco-terrorism case.
In 2001, Ali left India and went to Dubai where he met Kaskar. They both worked as diamond smugglers for two years after which they travelled to Russia to expand their smuggling network. According to sources, Ali travelled to Russia on student visa and also attended a college for two years.
During interrogation, Ali has revealed crucial information related to D company and its network spread across South Africa, Kenya, Zimbabwe and several other Caribbean countries.
According to a police officer, Ali played key role in diverting the black money of D company and converting it to white through international business transactions "During interrogation he revealed many secrets about the money transactions of D company. We are verifying that information".
Ali also raised funds for D company and was involved in a 2018 extortion case, when D company hired a sharp shooter to kill a hotelier for refusing to give extortion of 50 lakh rupees. The Anti Extortion Cell of Mumbai police, investigating the case had arrested the sharp shooter identified as Ramdas Rahane and recovered a pistol and two rounds in June 2018. Ramdas alleged received instructions from Pakistan to kill the hotelier.
According to sources, the Indian agencies are in the process of getting the custody of Sohail Kaskar.
