Mumbai: The Akhil Maharashtra Fishermen Association has alleged that an ONGC surveillance boat shot a fisherman on the high seas.

The association claimed that the incident took place near Uttan on Sunday evening. An ONGC helicopter airlifted the injured fisherman and took him to a nearby hospital. However, ONGC has denied these claims saying that they don't have any surveillance boat.

The company said some fishermen brought the injured person to one of ONGC's Mumbai offshore platforms.

"No such information is available. One fisherman was brought with injury by some fishermen in one of the ONGC Mumbai offshore platforms. ONGC medical team gave first aid and he was shifted to a Mumbai hospital. ONGC provided all supports to the injured fisherman to save his life. You can find out as to how that fisherman was injured from the police pls," a statement issued by ONGC said.
