KARIMNAGAR: A government job, of even the lowest rank, is precious than a private job. This has been proved, beyond doubt, by the applications received for the posts of forest beat officers and watchman for a forest building. Highly qualified candidates applied for the above posts. In April, the forest authorities invited applications for five beat officers posts and one building watchman post in their department.According to officials, there is a tough competition for the six posts. About 73 candidates, including 27 women, applied for the building watchman post which is reserved exclusively for women belonging to BC ‘D’ category.Officials told this paper that applications from male candidates would be rejected. While the qualification asked for the post is SSC passed, many of the applicants have completed post graduation. With regard to the forest beat officers, it is learnt that about 1,576 applications, excluding 49 online, were received for the five posts. While the eligibility for the post is Intermediate pass, many of the applicants were found to be M.Sc, B.Tech, M.Tech and MA qualified.Of the five posts, four were allotted to women and one to the general category. When asked about the over qualified candidates, forest officers said they were not interested in the highly qualified aspirants. “Preference would be given to those passing Intermediate,” he said. All the applications would be scrutinised on May 8.
