New Delhi: Which metropolitan city would Indians prefer to settle down in, in the future? According to the 'State of the Nation' poll by CNN-IBN and GfK Mode, a majority of Indians want to live in Ahmedabad in the future.
Research Organisation GfK Mode conducted the survey in eight cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh
The survey was conducted between January 11 and January 14, 2012. In all, 1731 persons above 18 years of age were interviewed.
When asked about their preference, 21 per cent people said that they wanted to live in Ahmedabad in future, 18 per cent said that they wanted to live in Mumbai, 16 per cent prefer Delhi and 10 per cent said that they wanted to live in Chennai in future.
Most of the people wish to settle down in the same city that they live in, after retirement. When asked, if they would like to settle down in the same city that they are currently living in, after retirement, 82 per cent people said that they would prefer to settle down in the same city and 11 per cent said that they wanted to move to some other city after retirement.
When asked about the most important reason for people to choose a city for living after retirement, 31 per cent said that they wanted to be with their loved ones after retirement, 20 per cent said that the cost of living is a prime consideration, 16 per cent said that the sense of safety and security is important and 16 per cent said they would choose a city based on the healthcare facilities available. Availability of open spaces and greenery is another important consideration.
