RAJAHMUNDRY: BJP former national president Rajnath Singh has said the party cannot rule out the possibility of mid-term Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh due to prevailing political crisis.Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, he said development activities came to a standstill in the state due to political instability. The BJP senior leader also alleged that the Congress government failed to ensure support price to farmers for their produce.Hence, paddy farmers of Konaseema declared a crop holiday in kharif as they felt that agriculture was no more remunerative to them.About 90 per cent of problems of farmers could be solved if the Congress-led UPA government implements the Swaminathan Committee in toto. But the UPA government lacked the will to implement the report effectivelyIt is the responsibility of the Centre and state governments to ensure the welfare of small and marginal farmers. The BJP former national president demanded that the state government pay a compensation of Rs 10,000 per acre to paddy farmers of Konaseema area for forgoing kharif crop.On Telangana issue, he said creation of a separate state would not pose a threat to the country’s unity and integrity. The BJP regime carved out three states as it is in favour of creation of small states to promote balanced growth by rectifying regional imbalances, said Singh.
