Manorama, his wife, who travels on a normal cycle, has been accompanying Maity on his mammoth task.Talking to Express, Maity said he undertook the task to spread awareness about the AIDS, eye donation, clean environment and peace and harmony. He said he had left behind his two sons and parents back in his village Rajnagar in Kendrapara district of Orissa for undertaking the journey.
