Media should hold itself back a bit: Khurshid
On corruption in judiciary, the law minister said it was 'an exaggerated thing'.

New Delhi: Media should "hold itself back a bit", says Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid, reflecting growing concern over "trial by the media". Arguments are going on in the Supreme Court in the 2G matter and later the same matter gets discussed in TV studios with one particular anchor playing the judge, he told PTI in an interview.

"Now two trials cannot go on for the same guy. There will be one trial... Media insists that we will decide. Now I think media should hold itself back a bit. Lot of things happen and after they happen, then comment on it," he said.

On corruption in judiciary, the law minister said it was "an exaggerated thing" although there are "problems".

"Corruption stories are exaggerated. There is corruption but I don't think anywhere near the level people are assuming," he said.

Noting that the judiciary itself is concerned over the issue, he said the government is working closely with the judiciary to find a "suitable way" of addressing it.

The Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill is part of this, Khurshid said.
