Medha's arrest intensifies NBA stir
Patkar's forcible removal from the strike site has given the agitation a fresh impetus and at least ten more have joined the fast.

New Delhi: Narmada Bachao Aandolan (NBA)leader Medha Patkar, who was arrested and forcibly hospitalised on Thursday, has not given up.

Lying in the Intensive Care Unit of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, Patkar is defiant and has refused to end her now 10-day long hunger strike.

She was administered 600 ml of glucose on Thursday, and was also given lemon-water and salt. However, Patkar has refrained from consuming any solid food.

However, her condition is steadily improving.

Even as a three-member team of Central ministers has begun assessing the rehabilitation work in Madhya Pradesh, the protests by NBA activists at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi has shown no signs of letting up.

Patkar's forcible removal from the strike site on Wednesday night has given the agitation a fresh impetus and at least 10 people from the Capital, including academicians and students, have joined the fast.

Students from the Jawaharlal Nehru University are now mobilising support for rehabilitation and at least 10 more people have now joined the chain hunger strike at Jantar Mantar.

Another activist Bhagwatibai Patidar, who began her fast along with Patkar continued her hunger strike for the ninth day.

Meanwhile NBA has issued a statement accusing Government of shifting Patkar to AIIMS was taken out of panic rather than concern for her health.

What's your reaction?
