HYDERABAD:  “It has been a wonderful learning experience. We were always encouraged take active participation in extra-curricular activities and sports along with academics for all-round development,” said an excited Major Parveen Kumar, who graduated in BTech with a gold medal from the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering at Trimulgherry.The convocation ceremony of the 88th degree engineering course and 15th Technical Entry Scheme (BTech) at MCEME on Friday was marked by military splendour and academic excellence of the corps of Electronic and Mechanical Engineers and other officers. Twenty-seven officers of the engineering course and 23 of the Technical Entry scheme were awarded their degrees. Major Gaurav Chibber was the only one who got his MTech degree. Delivering the convocation address, Lt Gen NB Singh, director-general, Information Systems and Colonel Commandant said, “EME officers are expected to be a blend of intellectual and practical knowledge.” He added, “Remain an optimist throughout and always give a second chance to those under command. Being engineers should not insulate one from issues which are faced by general public.”Tanushree Chatterji who completed her BTech in electronic engineering said, "Initially it took time getting used to student life all over again. However, it was a great learning experience."Projects submitted by graduating officers which were also on display, ranged from generation of electricity from speed-breakers to a portal for SMS voting and notification for local area network.
