BANGALORE: Barely a moment after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati condemned the police 'brutality' against Baba Ramdev, her supporters doled out the same treatment to the media who had been invited to cover the oneday conference of the state BSP officebearers in the city.
Making her stand clear, Mayawati started her speech condemning the police force used in Ramlila Grounds in New Delhi. She said that her party does not condone this act. "The Supreme Court must intervene, conduct a probe into the incident and take appropriate action. These actions could not have been carried out without the support of the Central government," she said.Terming the action of the Delhi police as 'inhuman and unconstitutional, she urged the National Human Rights Commission, National Women's Rights Commission and the other SC/ST rights protection bodies to probe the incident.

BSP Workers Rough up Scribes

Even though the convener of the event apologised on behalf of the party workers, the media insisted that the actual person should be brought out and made to explain his actions. The police said that the culprits would be booked. But in an act of defiance, the culprit later told the police at High Grounds police station that it was the photographer who instigated the tussle.
