MYSORE: Trying to board a moving train proved fatal for a woman after she came under its wheels.The tragedy took place when Puttamma, 47, and her daugher Shylaja, 28, tried to board the moving Chamundi Express at Mysore Railway Station at 6.45 am on Saturday. Police said that Puttamma, while trying to board the train slipped and fell, with her waist getting stuck in the gap between the platform and the train footboard.Shylaja, who rushed to her mother’s help, sustained critical injuries, in addition to hurting her right hand severely. While the mother died enroute to hospital, the daughter is battling for life in the ICU. They were to reach Bangalore to distribute the wedding invitations of Shylaja, a woman police constable of K R Pet Rural Police Station. Shylaja’s wedding was scheduled for December 4 and 5. The two are residents of Akki Hebbalu, near here, and had visited Puttamma’s parents in Mani Mohalla. Railway police have registered a case.
