But sadly a propaganda that Muslims are trying to convert Hindus by design continues to vitiate the atmosphere. No money for guessing who is behind this propaganda.
Within three months the battlefield shifted from Jabalpur to Bhopal and a Hindu Kanya Raksha Samiti through which known RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal and Uma Bharti's Bhartiya Janshakti leaders campaigned against the marriage of Umar and Priyanka Wadhvani has been formed.
Meena is a physically challenged Hindu girl who wanted to get married to Peter, a Christian auto rickshaw driver. In Bhopal, Priyanka Wadhwani, daughter of an affluent Sindhi contractor wanted to get married to Umar, a Muslim, whose family is also into the real estate and construction business.
Meena and Peter could get married under the Special Marriage Act only after the Madhya
Pradesh Governor intervened while Umar and Priyanka could finally come out of hiding only after the Mumbai and Jabalpur High Courts intervened. Remember the MP police had registered a Kidnapping case against Umar and his brother Shakeel was kept in illegal police detention for six days.
For Meena and Peter the governor's intervention became necessary despite the fact that there was no objection from the family members of the
two during the mandatory 40 day notice period. Only the Hindu Sena had problems and a
meek state government led by Chief Mister Shivraj Singh Chauhan obliged by creating an impression that it could adversely affect the law and order
situation. The marriage did happen and when it did there was no law and order problem. Only members of the Sangh family had to be tamed. In Bhopal a spineless police obliged the Hindu Kanya Raksha Samiti by registering a Kidnap case against Umar as the Samiti threatened to destroy the 'Fiza' of the city. Again, once the media took it up and the courts intervened nothing happened to the city's 'Fiza'.
So why does the RSS want to persist with the 'conversions by design theory' when it has been repeatedly proved that not many subscribe to it? Perhaps it is a peek into an ideology that believes in repeating a lie till it is taken as the truth. No one is bothered about the damage that this entire process causes.
It's but natural that youngsters will not bother to check out with the Sangh or anyone else when it comes to matters of heart. In Bhopal Umar and Priyanka were not the first ones to elope. Every year between March and June hundreds elope and there are quiet a few cases in which the boy is a Hindu and the girl is a Muslim. So who is converting whom?
Again as the elopements will not stop, the self appointed protectors of the religion of Radha and Krishna will carry on with their propaganda. The strategy will remain the same.
