Map quiz with a difference

HYDERABAD: It was a quiz but with a difference. Revolving around the theme of maps, locations, signages and landmarks, the finals of the 21st National GeoMap Quiz held at the NTR Gardens here on Saturday saw over 500 students from 50 different city schools run around the park trying to decipher clues depicted on satellite imagery pictures and other maps provided to them in real time.The rounds for the finals included Satellite Image Map Fun (recognising features on the satellite image map), map labelling, as well as a map planning round which sought the advice of young minds on the Master Plan for Hyderabad Metropolitan region for the year 2031, developed by the HMDA. Ten teams from sub-junior, junior and senior levels were awarded prizes. The first prize in the sub-junior category was awarded to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan school.
