THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the Kerala Congress is back in the news with a couple of its leaders left in a vortex of controversies in a state longing for it, once again the regional outfit has proved that it has to live with political jolts time to time and the underlying distrust between a section of top leaders and their respective supporters. While Government Chief Whip P C George is yet to tide over the ruckus over his controversial letter against the Vigilance court judge and his post becoming shaky as it is being put under the constitutional scanner, Water Resources Minister P J Joseph is facing fresh trouble on the SMS issue as he is being summoned to appear before the Thodupuzha court in person next week.George caught everyone by surprise in burying the hatchet with K M Mani soon, since the LDF turned his overtures for a political breather, despite the support of V S Achuthanandan. But plans of George went awry after Joseph and team were also roped in by Mani to bolster the KC bargaining power in the UDF. Since then, it was an uneasy truce between the P J Joseph-George compartments in the utfilt. The recent developments have left Mani to tread a careful path, since a growing feeling in the Joseph camp is that George is being pampered and protected. This may result in political offshoots beyond the central Travancore turf for the Kerala Congress.Especially, when Joseph enjoys the unstinted support of MLAs’ T U Kuruvilla and Mons Joseph, among the nine member Kerala Congress legislators, but George finds himself all alone.
