HYDERABAD: Task Force police on Monday arrested one person for duping customers by selling titanium alloy ingot in the name of original platinum and collecting high amounts of cash from them. Police recovered 680 grams of Titanium alloy ingot which looks like platinum metal and one mobile phone from him. Another accused is at large. On a tip-off, South Zone Task Force sleuths apprehended Imtiyaz Ali Mohammed Bhamla, a resident of Kachiguda, with 680 grams of titanium alloy ingot at Vysya Boys Hostel in Kachiguda while he was trying to sell the ingot for `25,000 per 10 grams.During the interrogation, the accused confessed that he and his friend Moinuddin alias Moin procured the titanium ingot a month ago. Since it looked similar to platinum, they hatched a plan to sell these ingots as pure platinum to make more money. Platinum is known as “white gold” and is costlier than gold. The arrested person and the seized material has been handed over to Kachiguda police station for further investigation. Police said that in the last one week, this is the second gang that has been apprehended by police in connection with cheating.
