BANGALORE: In a broad daylight attention diversion case, miscreants duped a jewellery shop owner and escaped with a cash of Rs 6.86 lakh and 60 grams of gold ornaments. The incident took place near a bus stop at Gangamma Thimmaiah Complex on Sunkadakatte Main Road on Monday afternoon.Munnalal (30) is the victim who lost the valuables for the trick played by the miscreants. Munnalal runs a jewellery shop in Anjananagar.Accroding to the police, Munnalal was going on a bike with his friend Ganesh to Chikpet for some financial transaction. Incidentally, the bike tyre got punctured near the Gangamma Thimmaiah Complex on Sunkadakatte Main Road. As Ganesh’s uncle’s jewellery shop was in the vicinity, Munnalal asked Ganesh to park the punctured bike in the shop and bring another bike. As Ganesh left with the bike and Munnalal was standing on the footpath with the bag that had valuables, a person approached Munnalal and told him that there was some dirt on his shirt. Munnalal checked and there was some dirt. The person, who had already kept a water bottle at a distance of about 12 feet, asked Munnalal to wash the dirt.“The gullible victim without sensing any foul play placed the bag on the footpath and went to wash the dirt. In the meantime, Ganesh returned in another bike and asked Munnalal to come with him. It was then Munnalal realised that the bag was taken away by the unknown person,” the police explained.‘Probe on’Meanwhile, it is suspected that some people who knew about the transactions of Munnalal are behind the incident and investigations are being conducted on the basis of some clues available, the police gave details.Kamakshipalya police have registered a case and are investigating.
