BERHAMPUR: One person from Kandhamal district who was undergoing treatment for suspected anthrax, died here on Saturday night.The deceased, identified as Ruruka Majhi (40) of Bada Guchhuka village in Kandhamal, died at the MKCG Medical, hospital Superintendent J P Behera said on Sunday. He added that Majhi died due to complications in liver.While Majhi along with six others were admitted in the hospital last week after suffering from suspected anthrax, eight persons, including a four-year-old girl, were admitted to the hospital in the second phase. All the 14 patients belonged to San Guchhuka and Bada Guchhuka villages of Tumudibandh block.All the affected persons had reportedly consumed the meat of a dead cattle. Kandhamal CDMO N C Behera said two mobile health teams had been sent to the affected areas and the administration started awareness drive in the area.
