Man arrested for murdering wife over property dispute

A person was arrested on Friday for allegedly killing his wife over a property dispute, the police said.

Identified as Dilip Pahwa (54), the accused allegedly killed his wife Santosh Pahwa (50) by attacking her with a sharp-edged weapon on December 19 last year, when she was at her cast iron furniture shop.

Because of a property dispute between them, the woman had forced her husband out of the shop, Superintendent of Police (East) O P Tripathi told reporters.

The police learnt about the dispute between them through neighbours who revealed that despite living under the same roof, both used to cook their food separately and also filed a number of property-related cases against each other.

The police are probing the incident further, he said.
