Lingayat leader B S Yeddyurappa attacked MP HN Ananth Kumar and suggested to BJP national president Nitin Gadkari to make the MP state’s party president.
After reacting to Gadkari’s statement at the BJP national executive meet on Thursday that “No person is bigger than the party,” Yeddyurappa sarcastically said: “He (Kumar) has been dreaming to become the party president and the chief minister. Please help him realise his dream.”
He also accused Kumar of poisoning the minds of top BJP leaders, including L K Advani.
Claiming that he skipped the national executive meeting for the first time in 40 years, the former CM said that he would write a letter to Gadkari explaining his reasons for absence.
Yeddyurappa said that he is no longer in the race for state BJP president’s post.
“I won’t accept the post even if offered. The chances of me becoming president or chief minister from the BJP are over,” he said. He also warned Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar against neglecting his demand for additional responsibility to ministers MP Renukacharya, Sunil Vallyapure, Raju Gowda and Revu Naik Belamagi.
‘Write to me about my next move’
BANGALORE: Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa who seems to have decided to leave BJP, has called upon his well-wishers and intellectuals to write to him on his next political move.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, the Lingayat strongman said that he would abide by the opinion of the people.
“I request people to express their opinion about my next political move. I will follow whatever people say. If they say that I should take retirement from politics, then I will do so,” Yeddyurappa said.
Yedyurappa said that he would embark on the second leg of his state-tour from October 5 from Bidar.
“Based on the feedback I get during my tour, I will take a decision,” he added. He also urged Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar to expedite drought relief works besides convening a meeting of state’s MPs to discuss drought and Cauvery issues. He also criticised Centre for giving favourable decision to Tamil Nadu in the Cauvery river water sharing row, Yeddyurappa said, “Centre seems to be more interested in getting political support from Tamil Nadu than protecting Karnataka’s interest.”
He also hit back at state BJP president KS Eshwarappa for his indirect threat to deny B forms to his followers.
“Neither me nor my supporters will beg for B forms. Only time will reply to Eshwarappa’s irresponsible utterances,” he added.
